Elections and African electoral system: challenges and prospects for Mozambique

Resumo: This article discuss about the question related by elections and the African electoral system. The study systematizes challenges and perspectives for Mozambique, an African country whose electoral process has degenerated in tension, conflicts and post-electoral crises. Based on qualitative research, supported by the historical and analytical method, documentary research, systematic literature review and participant observation, the study concludes that the African electoral system is still in the process of being built, believing that in the near or long future it will have its autochthonous, safe and functional mechanism, capable of preventing and reducing electoral and post-electoral crises and conflicts.

El estudio sistematiza desafíos y perspectivas para Mozambique, un país africano cuyo proceso electoral ha degenerado en tensiones, conflictos y crisis postelectorales. A partir de una investigación cualitativa, sustentada en el método histórico y analítico, la investigación documental, la revisión sistemática de la literatura y la observación participante, el estudio concluye que el sistema electoral africano aún se encuentra en proceso de construcción, creyendo que en un futuro cercano o largo lo hará contar con su mecanismo autóctono, seguro y funcional, capaz de prevenir y reducir las crisis y conflictos electorales y postelectorales.O presente artigo faz uma análise sobre a questão das eleições e o sistema eleitoral africano. O estudo sistematiza desafios e perspectivas para Moçambique, um país africano cujo processo eleitoral tem degenerado em tensões, conflitos e crises pós-eleitorais.
