Resumo: From the perception of changes generated by the processes of redemocratization and changes in the production cycles of South American foreign policies, the article questions the relationship between changes in political regimes and a democratic expansion in the process of producing South American foreign policies. Using documentary research, the article raises indicatives of institutional and institutional changes in ten South American countries that signal changes in the decision-making process towards a democratic expansion. Our conclusions show that the new South American constitutions incorporate normative principles of external policies and include points that signal a democratic extension of its process.
