Resumo: This paper aims to analyze public student financing via FIES and ProUni and its impact on the expansion of private higher education in Brazil, especially in the Wyden Educacional Network. The methodological procedure is based on a quantitative and qualitative research, carried out with primary documentary sources extracted from the Higher Education Census Database from 2009 to 2019 and from the websites of the institutions of the Wyden network. The results show that student financing is the main sponsor of the Wyden network, especially public financing through FIES and ProUni. The predominance of student enrollments with student financing, whether public or private, implies an increase in the privatization of higher education in the country, especially of business groups linked to the financialization of the educational sector, such as Wyden Educacional.
