Resumo: | After the election of Lula da Silva for his third term as president of Brazil, it is speculated how the country’s international performance will position itself on the subject of foreign policy for human rights, given the changes of understanding and positioning experienced in the last four years, in Jair Bolsonaro’s government (2019-2022), which left the route of the Brazilian diplomatic tradition. Using literature review and official publications of the government and news agencies, it is analyzed, from a qualitative approach, elements that demonstrate a repositioning in human rights, which respects the Brazilian tradition, the Federal Constitution and the understanding of international human rights law. Actions such as the withdrawal of the Geneva Consensus and the return to the Migration Pact, already in the first months of the new government, point to the direction of a progressive human rights foreign policy and the break with the ultraconservative and religious understanding that led this matter in the previous government. |
