Resumo: The article analyzes the influence of CEPAL in the brazilian and argentina’s economies. It infers that the same had influenced, mainly in the industrialization process, although does not explain in a complete way the economic development of these countries. Even so, it deserves to be featured as a theory that discuss the underdevelopment in the institutional and international levels.

Inicialmente, será abordado o subdesenvolvimento econômico na região, bem como sua causas e consequências. Após, será discutido o papel da CEPAL dentro da América Latina, seus objetivos primordiais, bem como os elementos fundamentais de seu pensamento. Por fim, será apresentada uma retrospectiva da industrialização dos países em questão, relacionando-a com a teoria cepalina. Infere-se que a mesma exerceu expressiva influência, principalmente no processo de industrialização, mas não explica de forma completa o subdesenvolvimento econômico destes países.
