Resumo: | This article discusses the importance of Gwadar Port. In order to do so, we first identify the regional context of the Indian Ocean, where the Port is, and its internal conditions present in the Baluchistan region. The research aims to answer how the Gwadar Port becomes an important instrument for Pakistan China relations, which culminates in its inclusion in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and, consequently, in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It is assumed that, for Pakistan, the Port means a strategic alternative to the territorial proximity with India, while for China, it serves as the main access route to the Indian Ocean, the Persian Gulf, and the Arabian Sea, reducing Beijing's dependence on the use of the South Sea. Given this, structurally, this work is carried out from three sections. In the first place, it aims to understand the geopolitical context of the Indian Ocean. Next, it seeks to present the internal constraints of the Baluchistan region. Subsequently, the objective is to identify the importance of the Port of Gwadar. Finally, some final considerations are raised on the theme development in this research. |

Finally, some final considerations are raised on the theme development in this research. Por fim, levantamos alguns questionamentos finais sobre a importância geoestratégica da região.UFRGS2019-12-23info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/ConjunturaAustral/article/view/9633610.22456/2178-8839.96336Conjuntura Austral; Vol. 10 No. 52 (2019); 80 - 99Conjuntura Austral; Vol. 10 Núm. 52 (2019); 80 - 99Conjuntura Austral; v. 10 n. 52 (2019); 80 - 992178-8839reponame:Conjuntura Australinstname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)instacron:UFRGSporhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/ConjunturaAustral/article/view/96336/55386Fialho, Vinícius LerinaHaines, Andrés Ernesto Ferrariinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2020-09-11T20:27:15Zoai:seer.ufrgs.br:article/96336Revistahttps://seer.ufrgs.br/ConjunturaAustralPUBhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/ConjunturaAustral/oaiconjunturaaustral@ufrgs.br||reisdasilva@hotmail.com||nerint@ufrgs.br||andre.reis@ufrgs.br2178-88392178-8839opendoar:https://seer.ufrgs.br/ConjunturaAustral/oaihttps://seer.ufrgs.br/ConjunturaAustral/oai2020-09-11T20:27:15Conjuntura Austral - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)false |
