This work seeks to understand the conditions and contexts of writing and launching the book Incidente em Antares, by Erico Verissimo, as well as the forms of reading and historical interpretation that the reader does. For this, a research form was developed in which, readers from the social network Skoob, answered about their experiences and understandings when reading the book. The book deals with a fantastic event in the fictional city of Antares: seven dead rise from their coffins and interact with the residents and their former neighbors. The narrative proceeds by relating and mixing History and fiction, showing the city and the characters as part of History and interacting with historical characters. Based on this relationship, we seek to understand how the reader transforms a literary understanding into a historical understanding, in addition to asking how reading can also help to form a historical awareness.
