Resumo: The present article is about the autobiography of Samuel Wainer, published in the posthumous book Minha razão de viver, and analyses the author's transforming his account into a story (biographic ilusion, according to BOURDIEU); the structural restraints from the author's origin and social trajectory that are present in his story, by using BOURDIEU's notions of class habitus and social trajectory; and finaly, the possibilities of the text in itself as a source of research, considering that, although he presents a particular point of view on the world he describes, it is a very rich evidence of it.
