Resumo: The proposal of this article is, first, to describe the central axes of Postcolonial Studies; second, to analyze Achille Mbembe’s theoretical proposition regarding the “postcolonial” in Africa and its relations with modernity; and, finally, to discern the general consequences for the construction of knowledge about History amidst internal and external narrative disputes in the scientific field related to issues that intersect race, class, gender and coloniality.
