Resumo: The article aims to present an overview of studies on punk in Brazil, through a “state of the art” of academic production on the phenomenon developed in the last four decades. The first studies on punk in the country emerged in the first half of the 1980s, a period in which the lifestyle began to emerge on the outskirts of the various capitals, being welcomed by poor young people who identified with the contesting proposal by the punk. It is argued that these works were driven by reflections on the experiences of Brazilian youth, especially by the interest in the so-called “Young Cultures”. To substantiate the analyzes undertaken here, a literature review and data extracted from Capes’ Dissertations and Theses Database are used. In addition to emphasizing the centrality of the theme in Brazilian social research, it seeks to show that the analysis of punk has followed recent changes in our society, as well as theoretical and epistemological changes in the field of Human Sciences
