Resumo: This article presents some theoretical reflections and methodological proposals for the use of historical sources from the colonial period in history teaching. These are sources that describe indigenous societies of pre-columbian and colonial America. The methodological proposals outlined are based on constructivist pedagogical trends in the PCN’s guidelines, procedures of discourse analysis and the concepts of Imaginary and Social Representation.
