Resumo: The paper aims at studying the Rome History just before Constantine ruled the Empire, considering that Constantine is considered as a direct heir of his four predecessors. Scholars are mostly interested in social and economic aspects, relegating to a secondary role the raw material and even the ideological concerns, so important ideologically. The numismatic collection stored at the National Historical Museum at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, serves to show how images were used as propaganda for imperial rule.
