Resumo: This article aims to investigate some ways through which the classical tradition became present in eighteenth century Brazil. More precisely, through an examination of the arrangements and uses of Greco-Roman antiquity developed in the intellectual community around Colégio Pedro II during the first decades of its activity. It expects to reconstruct the appropriation of certain narratives on the roman political experience and its reworking in the context of broader eighteenth century debates.
