Resumo: This article analyzes the trajectory of Ruth Pinheiro and her relationship with the contemporary black social movement. She is one of the black female leaders in Rio de Janeiro and became an activist from the end of the 1970s, in a moment of rupture for the construction of political citizenship, the debate of racial relations in Brazil and the greater female protagonism. Based on Oral History interviews and comparisons with other research, the article analyzes the life trajectory of a black woman, dialoguing with the analyzes of the social and political history of Afro-Brazilians in the 20th century.
