Resumo: This article deals with conflicting relations among intellectuals, having João Cruz Costa as the leading figure, Philosophy professor at Universidade de São Paulo. The first one, featured by competition between Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras da Universidade de São Paulo and the Instituto Brasileiro de Filosofia; the second one, featured by “parricide” in the very Departamento de Filosofia, nurtured by the struggle for Jean Maugüé’s legacy; and in the third situation, we can see Cruz Costa crossing boundaries between Philosophy and History.
