Resumo: The orientation for using pressurized metered-dose inhalers (PMDI) for patients with asthma is crucial for adherence to the treatment prescribed. The use of audiovisual educational materials (AEM) qualifies the man-agement of treatment of these patients. This study aimed to describe the experience of construction of AEM to the use of PMDIs and inhalators spacers in asthma treatment. The AEMs were produced in five steps: a review of literature; script development; video recordings; audio recordings; and approval. Six AEMs were elaborat-ed by the students from Post-graduation Program in Pharmaceutical Assistance (PPGASFAR/UFRGS) and the Faculty of Pharmacy (FACFAR/UFRGS): (1) using of PMDI; (2) elaboration of the artisanal spacer; (3) using of the artisanal spacer; (4) cleaning of the artisanal spacer; (5) using of the industrialized spacer, and (6) cleaning of the industrialized spacer. For the inclusion of diversities, the AEMs were subtitled and added narration to contemplate different possibilities available for accessing the educational material. The insertion of different communication tools in these AEMs allows more and better access to information.

The insertion of different communication tools in these AEMs allows more and better access to information.
