Resumo: Preterm birth is the one that occurs with less than 37 weeks of gestational age. The baby born weighing less than 2,500 grams is considered low weight. Both are risk factors for the development of perinatal conditions. Although there are stigmas involved in the birth of a baby with these conditions – such as lack of information from family members –, the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), as part of health education, can contribute to mitigate mortality in these newborns. These educational strategies can be carried out by using educational technologies, such as animated infographics guided by scripts. The objective of this methodological study was to conceive/execute the elaboration of the content/script for the development of an animated infographic about the KMC. In the script, after document and similar analysis, the theme KMC was delimited, with a brief description of its stages and advantages, focused on families of preterm and/or low birth weight newborns, hospitalized in intensive care units. The creation of the characters’ identity was articulated with the locution and visual aids, this made it possible to explore different forms of learning and improve the ability to receive information. There were 22 scenes that address the presentation of the characters/concepts, the description of stages, the nurse’s attributions in this context, the advantages of the kangaroo position, and the importance of monitoring the baby and the family by the Primary Health Care. Despite the complexity involved in the development of educational resources, it was possible to build a script for the development of the animated infographic on the KMC, with information that seeks to meet the needs of the target audience. It is hoped that this study can encourage/expand the practice of using educational resources for the qualified care of preterm newborns and promote reflection by health professionals-managers-community on the subject.
