Resumo: The present article seeks to make a survey of the semiotic principles pertinent to the field of comics and to verify in what way these elements are used in the reconstruction of the memory of the survivors from the incidents that occurred in 1956, and their direct correlates, in the villages of Khan Younis and Rafah in the work Footnotes in Gaza, by author Joe Sacco. As methodology, the bibliographical review was used, especially the work The system of comics by the Belgian author Thierry Groensteen, allied to other conceptions about the same theme, such as those analyzed, for example, in the segment by Antônio Luiz Cagnin. Based on this survey, analyses were made of selected pages of the comic strip in which the graphic reconstruction of the memory of the people interviewed occurs. It was observed that the sequential graphic composition of these memories is based on preponderantly orthodox elements within the language attributed to the semiotics of comics, thus maintaining the sobriety of the reports pertinent to the composition of the work as a comic-book reportage. It was concluded, then, that the options specifically determined by the author for the elaboration of the analyzed excerpts were quite effective. They operated in fine tune, for the memorialist reconstruction, from the oral sources - keeping the assumptions of the reportage. Thus, they managed to deliver the dramatic component pertinent to the field of iconic elements of comics, without loss or obliteration of the initial proposal.

Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul2023-03-08info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/12612610.19132/1807-8583.55.126126Intexto; No. 55 (2023); 126126Intexto; Núm. 55 (2023); 126126Intexto; No. 55 (2023); 126126Intexto; N. 55 (2023); 126126Intexto; n. 55 (2023); 1261261807-8583reponame:Intexto (Porto Alegre)instname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)instacron:UFRGSporhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/126126/88102Copyright (c) 2023 Jefferson Garcia de Oliveira, Maria Gabriela Silva Martins da Cunha Marinho, João Elias Neryhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessOliveira, Jefferson Garcia deMarinho, Maria Gabriela Silva Martins da CunhaNery, João Elias2023-12-13T14:34:20Zoai:seer.ufrgs.br:article/126126Revistahttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intextoONGhttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intexto/oai||intexto@ufrgs.br1807-85831807-8583opendoar:2023-12-13T14:34:20Intexto (Porto Alegre) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)false
