Resumo: | The paper presents the themes and approaches of journalistic editorials in three nationally circulated print newspapers in Brazil (Folha de S.Paulo, O Estado de S. Paulo, and O Globo) regarding their treatment of disinformation. The selection includes all editorials that referred to disinformation or fake news published between January 2019 and December 2022, the period of Jair Bolsonaro's presidency. The theoretical framework considers information disorders in the context of postmodernity, a period in which every truth is questioned. The editorials are analyzed from the perspective of Argumentative Discourse Analysis and Corpus Linguistics. Together, they allow for an analysis of traditional discourse and the expansion of its inferences to a large set of texts. The analysis reveals that the theme of disinformation in the editorials is primarily linked to politics. In terms of content, journalistic and constitutional values are advocated, and journalism is reinforced as a pillar of democracy. Regarding national political organization, the theme of disinformation emphasizes the need for regulation of social media and highlights the use of disinformation as a political strategy by Bolsonaro and his ideological allies. |

Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul2024-04-24info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/13623010.19132/1807-8583.56.136230Intexto; No. 56 (2024)Intexto; Núm. 56 (2024)Intexto; No. 56 (2024)Intexto; N. 56 (2024)Intexto; n. 56 (2024)1807-8583reponame:Intexto (Porto Alegre)instname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)instacron:UFRGSporhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/136230/91893Copyright (c) 2024 Cristiano Magrini Rodrigues; Rejane de Oliveira Pozobonhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessRodrigues, Cristiano Magrini Pozobon, Rejane de Oliveira2024-04-24T18:19:44Zoai:seer.ufrgs.br:article/136230Revistahttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intextoONGhttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intexto/oai||intexto@ufrgs.br1807-85831807-8583opendoar:2024-04-24T18:19:44Intexto (Porto Alegre) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)false |
