Resumo: Qualitative analysis of the news story published in the first semester of 2005 by Time and Veja on the controversy unfolding Vioxx’s market withdrawal. Journalists questioned the ethics of the manufacturers, the FDA, the scientific researches as well as the habit and tendency of health consumption, rescuing one of the noblest tasks of science journalism: to bring to discussion the contradictory and the interests linked to the area’s politics and decisions.

Los periodistas cuestionaran la ética de los fabricantes, de la FDA, de las pesquisas académicas, bien como el hábito e la tendencia a la consumización de la salud, rescatando una de las tareas más nobles del periodismo científico: traer para discusión el contradictorio y los intereses vinculados a las políticas e decisiones del área.Análise qualitativa das reportagens publicadas no primeiro semestre de 2005 nas revistas Time e Veja sobre os desdobramentos da retirada do medicamento Vioxx do mercado. Os jornalistas questionaram a ética dos fabricantes, da FDA, das pesquisas científicas, bem como o hábito e a tendência à consumização da saúde, resgatando uma das tarefas mais nobres do jornalismo científico: trazer para discussão o contraditório e os interesses vinculados às políticas e às decisões da área.
