Resumo: The present paper aims to explore the visibility regime practiced by nature prophets in brazilian northeastern “sertão”. We intend to show how this visibility regime resists to what has been a contemporary tendency both in the media and in the scientific worlds. The techniques of body visualization, reality shows, webcams and surveillance cameras follows the principle that everything must be shown and seen, building a sense of reality extremely related to the visibility. On the other extreme we will find the nature prophets. They read the signs of northeastern life and foresee what is not imediately visible, in a dialogue that reveals the invisible dimension of vision and the political dimension of language.

Pretendemos mostrar como este régimen de visibilidad resiste a lo que es una tendencia contemporánea tanto en el mundo mediático cuanto en el mundo científico. Los dispositivos de visualización de los cuerpos en la tecnociencia, los reality shows, webcams, weblogs, cameras de vigilancia siguen el principio de todo ver e todo mostrar, construyendo un sentido de realidad extremamente vinculado a la visibilidad. En el otro extremo de esta promesa de visibilidad máxima, siguen los profetas da naturaleza. Los profetas leen los signos discretos de la vida en el “sertão” e entrevenen lo que no se ve inmediatamente, en un dialogo que remete a la dimensión invisible de la visión e a la dimensión política de la palabra.O presente trabalho visa a explorar o regime de visibilidade posto em prática pelos profetas da natureza no sertão cearense. Pretende-se mostrar como esse regime de visibilidade resiste ao que vem sendo a tendência contemporânea tanto no mundo midiático quanto no mundo científico. Os dispositivos de visualização dos corpos e do mundo na tecnociência, os reality shows, webcams e câmeras de vigilância seguem o princípio de tudo ver e tudo mostrar, construindo um sentido de realidade intimamente atrelado à visibilidade.
