Resumo: | 2014 Elections in Brazil have been marked in popular Brazilian imagination as the “elections of memes”. From the scientific point of view, however, we believe that there are still few attempts to understand what the phenomenon of memes on the environment of the internet means for the Political Communication approach. This paper aims to discuss preliminary results of a comprehensive research on the uses and the appropriations of political-electoral memes. Our main goal is to develop, following former propositions from previous studies a taxonomy able to assist researchers interested in the topic to deal with this memes with greater objectivity. Therefore, we tried to perform a content analysis of memes that circulated during the Brazilian presidential election debates in 2014. The results point to the need to evaluate the production of meaning by Internet users talking about the political scene, understanding the memes as an expression of public opinion able to read the performances of candidates through social commentary in digital media. |

Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul2017-01-24info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/6389210.19132/1807-8583201738.173-196Intexto; n. 38, jan./abr. 2017; 173-196Intexto; n. 38, jan./abr. 2017; 173-196Intexto; n. 38, jan./abr. 2017; 173-196Intexto; n. 38, jan./abr. 2017; 173-196Intexto; n. 38, jan./abr. 2017; 173-1961807-8583reponame:Intexto (Porto Alegre)instname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)instacron:UFRGSporhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/63892/40226Copyright (c) 2017 Viktor Chagas, Fernanda Alcântara Freire, Daniel Rios, Dandara Magalhãeshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessChagas, ViktorFreire, Fernanda AlcântaraRios, DanielMagalhães, Dandara2023-11-23T17:10:34Zoai:seer.ufrgs.br:article/63892Revistahttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intextoONGhttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intexto/oai||intexto@ufrgs.br1807-85831807-8583opendoar:2023-11-23T17:10:34Intexto (Porto Alegre) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)false |
