Resumo: Based on the authors Raewyn Connell, Michael Kimmel, and Jason Stanley, the article seeks to help understand how hegemonic masculinity became the basis for the foundation of the main pillars of the political discourse of the extreme right in Brazil. For this, a discourse analysis was carried out based on one of the main foundations of the electoral campaign for the presidency of Jair Bolsonaro in 2022, the defense of the “traditional Brazilian family” as an example of a discourse that supports androcentric and patriarchal structures and, therefore, of traditional masculinity in our society. Still, the study used the research of Pierre Bourdieu and Heleieth Saffioti to show how the naturalization of these speeches by political leaders can contribute to the propagation of different forms of gender violence against “submissive” groups to these hegemonic structures of masculinity.
