“A soirée to call nuestro”: migrant youth, artivism and forms of re-existence in São Paulo

This article focuses on the political-cultural actions of the migrant collective Sarau das Américas in São Paulo/Brazil. Taking as a presupposition the notion of culture in its political senses, as well as on youths (in the plural) focused on the forms of presence carried out by young people in urban contexts, we analyze the activities of the collective with an emphasis on its actions in 2020 and 2021, years of Covid-19 pandemic, which interrupted the group's face-to-face activities and directed them to the online sphere. We seek to understand these actions, their main themes and how the meetings/events took place, in the search to interpret forms of belonging, identities and re-existences that were outlined and the uses of the technicities involved in these mediatized performances, triggering ways of being together and senses of presence.
