Resumo: This paper tries to vinculate the studies of Semiotics of Culture, by Lotman, with those of Biosemiotics, by Hoffmeyer, through the theoretical notion of “semiosphere”, notion shared by both discourses. We try to situate ourselves in a place “between” in order to analize how the human being is linked and interacts in the natural world and basically, how language, a distinctive ability of the species, made possible this kind of relations.

Intentamos situarnos en un lugar “entre” que permita analizar el modo en que el ser humano se vincula e interviene en el mundo natural y fundamentalmente, de qué manera una capacidad distintiva de la especie como lo es el lenguaje, le ha permitido este tipo de relaciones. Ejemplificaremos con la novela del mexicano Rafael Antúnez “La isla de madera”, basada en el mito del diluvio.Este trabalho pretende articular os estudos da Semiótica da Cultura, de Lotman, com os da Biossemiótica, de Hoffmeyer, a partir da noção teórica compartilhada por ambos os saberes, a de semiosfera. Tentamos nos situar em um lugar “entre” que permita analisar o modo em que o homem se vincula e intervém no mundo natural e fundamentalmente, de que maneira uma capacidade distintiva da espécie como é a linguagem tem possibilitado este tipo de relações.
