The construction of knowledge in the information science area in Brazil: an analysis based in published articles of the area

Resumo: This research has mapped the cognitive networks in the Information Science area in Brazil, based on an analysis of the citations present in published articles of the main journals of that area during the period between 2001 and 2005. It is a documental research. The defined corpus of analysis consists on scientific articles published in the main Brazilian journals of the studied area. It is observed that: 295 authors published 161 scientific texts; the most productive group is formed by authors who are usually connected to universities and post graduation programmes in the area; according to the taxonomy adopted, the most incident thematic in the studied articles is that of Communication, Divulgation and Editorial Production; the articles in periodic journals and books are the most present type and the areas that most influence theoretically the construction of knowledge in the Information Science field are Biblioteconomics, Administration and Sociology; the most influent authors in the area are, mainly, researchers in the field, in Brazil; the study has identified the six research fronts, each of them related to a studied theme in the Information Science. It has been concluded that the Brazilian Information Science is influenced by a group of researchers who work at universities and, in a certain way, establishes the thematic directions of the area, which interferes in the relations that this science establishes for the development of researches and studies, and consequently, being responsible for the disciplinary and interdisciplinary development of this science in the country.

Establece como camino metodológico para obtención de las respuestas necesarias la investigación documental. Define como corpus de análisis los artículos científicos publicados en las principales revistas brasileñas del área. Constata que: 295 autores publicaran 161 artículos científicos; ha un grupo de autores más productivos que están vinculados a las universidades a los programas de postgrado del área; la temática más incidente en los artículos citados están incluidos en el que se denominó Comunicación, Divulgación y Producción Editorial, conforme taxonómica adoptada en la investigación; los artículos de periódicos y los libros son los tipos de materiales más citados; las influencias teóricas más presentes en la construcción del conocimiento en el área advén de las áreas de Biblioteconomía, Administración y Sociología; la identificación de que los autores más influyentes en la construcción del conocimiento son: principalmente, los investigadores en el campo, en Brasil; la identificación de seis frentes de investigación, cada una relacionada a una temática de estudio de la Ciencia de la Información. Se concluye que la Ciencia de la Información brasileña es influenciada por un grupo de investigadores que actúa en universidades y establece de cierta forma las directrices temáticas del área, interfiriendo en las relaciones que ésta establece para embasar el desarrollo de los estudios e investigaciones y, consecuentemente, fortalecen determinados enfoques del área y son responsables por el desenvolvimiento disciplinario y interdisciplinario del área en el país.Pesquisa que mapeou a produção do conhecimento em Ciência da Informação no Brasil a partir dos artigos científicos publicados entre 2001 e 2005 nos principais periódicos da área de Ciência da Informação. É uma documental, que teve como corpus de análise os artigos científicos publicados nas principais revistas brasileiras da área, utilizando técnicas bibliométricas, para a análise dos dados. Constata que: 295 autores publicaram os 161 artigos científicos; há um grupo de autores mais produtivos que estão vinculados às universidades e aos programas de pós-graduação da área; a temática mais incidente nos artigos foi Comunicação, Divulgação e Produção Editorial, conforme taxonomia adotada na pesquisa; os artigos de periódicos e os livros são os tipos de materiais mais citados; as influências teóricas mais presentes na construção do conhecimento da área advêm da Biblioteconomia, Administração e Sociologia; os autores mais influentes na construção do conhecimento são, principalmente, pesquisadores da área, no Brasil; e foram identificadas seis frentes de pesquisa, cada uma relacionada a uma temática de estudo da Ciência da Informação.
