Resumo: Investigates the reasons that lead the researchers to develop research in science and technology and what are the criteria used to determine the division and partnerships and co-authoring coinvenção. The approach is quantitative, the type of bibliometric study and is used as an instrument of data collection a questionnaire with open and closed questions, sent by e-mail to the researchers. The subjects of this study constitute the researchers who have both patent applications and published articles in the field of Biotechnology. 1049 questionnaires were sent out and 119 responses were obtained, and of these 58 were analyzed by researchers who have both represent articles as patents in its production, during the period from 2001 to 2010. There were differences in the criteria used in the fields. For articles, criteria such as training, interdisciplinary academic subject and bonding are important. For patents, the interdisciplinary subject and the technological link featured prominently.

For patents, the interdisciplinary subject and the technological link featured prominently.Investiga quais os motivos que levam os pesquisadores a desenvolver pesquisa em ciência e em tecnologia e quais são os critérios utilizados para a determinação de parcerias e divisão da coautoria e coinvenção. A abordagem é quantitativa, o tipo de estudo é bibliométrico e utilizou-se como instrumento de coleta de dados um questionário com perguntas abertas e fechadas, enviado por e-mail aos pesquisadores. Os sujeitos deste estudo constituem-se nos pesquisadores que possuem tanto pedidos de patentes como artigos publicados na área de Biotecnologia. Foram enviados 1.049 questionários e obtiveram-se 119 respostas, sendo que destas foram analisadas 58 por representarem pesquisadores que possuem tanto artigos quanto patentes em sua produção, no período compreendido entre 2001 a 2010.  Observou-se diferenças nos critérios utilizados nas áreas. Para artigos, critérios como formação, interdisciplinaridade do assunto e vínculo acadêmico são importantes.
