Resumo: This article aims to discuss, from a multidisciplinary standpoint, theconceptual dimensions that bring the study of social and identity representationsand the field of symbolic information closer to each other. To achieve this, itassumes that information, regarded here as a social phenomenon, permeates andinterferes with the different processes of negotiation from which somerepresentation and identity discussions are elaborated, accepted and confronted.More specifically, considering the reality of certain social contexts marked byinequality and power asymmetries, it analyzes the ideological state ofinformation, and how this influences the process of establishing the meaningresponsible for drawing a distorted image from one another and from the groupsin which it is inserted.

Para tanto, adota por prerrogativa que a informação, pensada aqui como fenômeno social, atravessa e modula os distintos processos de negociação a partir dos quais certos discursos representacionais e identitários são elaborados, aceitos e confrontados.
