Resumo: The satyr play Omphale, by Ion of Chios (c. 484-422 BC), is a dramatic representation of the myth of Heracles and the Lydian queen Omphale. The context of the fragments and their position in dramatic structure are also briefly commented. Textual evidence suggests that the transvestism of Heracles, frequently mentioned from the late Hellenistic Period onwards, was already present in this satyr drama of the Classical Period.
