Resumo: | The exploratory potencial of the Rivadavia depocenter, located at the Cuyo basin, has been evaluated by the Seismic Method, which was supported by the geochemical analyses performed in the samples from the source rock (Fm Cacheuta) found in the exploration wells located nearby the production areas. The understanding of the Seismic Method is critical for this anaysis, thus, a review is carried out here. Is started up with a short review of both concepts: the elasticity theory and the wave theory, which enable to quantify the effects of the seismic waves while traveling through the subsurface beds. After the seismic method modeling definition, it was described the technical exploration process aspects, which are divided in three stages as follows: the seismic acquisition, the data processing and the seismic interpretation. The mentioned areas are the most fertile ground where the geophysicists can apply their technical knowledge. For the seismic acquisition the focus was the parametrization processing especially the evaluation of the acquisition parameters. In the data processing, it was described the basic workflow for the data handling and the elaboration of the seismic sections to the interpreters, which is the main task of this stage. Finally, in the interpretation stage it was shortly described the analisys processing of wells location. The Rivadavia area, which is under exploration nowadays because of the lack of hydrocarbon evidences, should be considered as a potential exploration target area based on the correlation analysis applied to the production areas nearby the Rivadavia depocenter. |

Nesta análise, o entendimento do Método sísmico iniciando-se pelo equacionamento teórico, ou seja, a união da teoria da elasticidade e da teoria ondulatória, que permite quantificar as respostas das ondas sísmicas quando viajam num meio, que para a exploração de petróleo, são as camadas de subsuperfície da terra. Conhecendo o equacionamento do método sísmico, partimos para a descrição dos aspectos técnicos do processo de exploração que é dividido em três grandes etapas: a aquisição sísmica, o processamento sísmico e a interpretação. São nestas etapas que a atuação dos geofísicos, no sentido técnico, se aplica. Na aquisição sísmica tratou-se do tópico de parametrização, principalmente, a avaliação de seus parâmetros. No processamento sísmico descreveu-se um fluxo de trabalho básico de tratamento dos dados sísmicos que permitiram entender o objetivo final do processamento, ou seja, a preparação das seções sísmicas para os intérpretes. Finalmente, na interpretação, de maneira bastante sucinta, mencionou-se os processos de análise para a locação de poços.
