Resumo: The purpose of the present work is to provide data for the pressure field over the surface of a hemispherical dome, which rests on the ground. The dome has a hole on the top and is placed into a wind current vii th veloci ty varying over the cross section of the wind tunnel. A device to introduce a velocity gradient in the wind profile has been developed. This research has an application in the design of the hemispherical done of the Hotel Tropical de Manaus.

This research has an application in the design of the hemispherical done of the Hotel Tropical de Manaus.Obtivemos dados experimentais sobre o campo de pressões estáticas que se forma sobre a superfície de uma cúpula hemisférica apoiada sobre o solo e imersa num escoamento de velocidade variável ao longo da secção transversal. Examinamos a influência do gradiente de velocidade, no perfil do vento incidente, sobre o campo de pressões estáticas na superfície da cúpula. Fizemos ensaios com um modelo completamente fechado e com um furo no topo, ambos apoiados sobre o solo. Outros estudos foram feitos com um modelo ligeiramente levantado do solo.
