Caicó/RN em papel e tinta:: representações da cidade no jornal A Fôlha (1954-1958)

Leaving of the perspective of that the cities are represented through some forms and express by means of multiple languages human beings, we objectify in this article, to try to perceive the representations of the city of Caicó/RN printed in the weekly pages of the periodical A Fôlha, during the years of 1954 the 1958. Ahead of this, to understand the complexity of the urban space of Caicó, represented in this periodical, if presents as a task chosen for us, in the writing and production of this article. For the composition of this literal body, we use as methodology, the reading and the analysis of the journalistic speech published in the periodic A Fôlha, over all that referring one to the urban representations. In this direction, after the accomplishment of the research in this historical source, we hit upon that Caicó was represented and printed matter for the journalistic speech of A Fôlha, as being a city that, even so was, in the decade of 50 of century XX, commanded under the molds of a Christian moral, if it found branched off between old and the new, traditional and the modern, the standard and the shunting line, at last, between the norm and the trespass. Thus, this city, built under pillars of a regional tradition, went, gradual, incorporating its urban territory, signs of modernity, new equipment and installed services that transformed the landscape of the city and, consequently, modified the daily one of its practicing citizens.
