Resumo: The article conceives a reading of the influence of colonial liberation movements in Africa on the political discourse of the Portuguese Revolution of 25 April 1974. For this, the relationship between the revolutionary critical tradition and colonialism will be problematized, observing the novelty that arose in this context about the capacity of social struggles in a colonial context. The main argument repositions the participation of the agents in the collapse of the salazarism and colonialism, in terms of an anticolonial relationship of the liberation movements, which presented dual reflexes, in the metropolitan centre and in the former colonies, an essential link to understand how post-colonial political dynamics were responsible for the Portuguese democratic opening. Keywords: Imperialism, Post-Colonialism, Salazarism, National Liberation Movements, Armed Forces Movement.
