Resumo: This article aims to apprehend the spatial and environmental categories in the process of insertion and territorialization of German immigrants in the municipality of Santa Maria, in the Province of Rio Grande do Sul, in the nineteenth century. Therefore, it uses some precepts of Italian Microhistory (TORRE, 2018; 2020) and Environmental History (ESPÍNDOLA, 2012) and proposes a reflection on the space found, occupied and experienced by immigrants, but also on the space produced by them. This is associated with the dialogue with a historiography dedicated to the theme of immigration and concerned with space as an analytical category that is not merely contextual. It is understood that the immigrants' space of insertion becomes a product of their relationships and their locally reproduced social practices.

Para tanto, utiliza-se de alguns preceitos da Micro-história italiana (TORRE, 2018; 2020) e da História Ambiental (ESPÍNDOLA, 2012) e propõe uma reflexão sobre o espaço encontrado, ocupado e experenciado pelos imigrantes, mas também sobre o espaço produzido pelos mesmos. Associa-se a isso o diálogo com uma historiografia dedicada à temática da imigração e preocupada com o espaço enquanto uma categoria analítica não meramente contextual.
