Resumo: This work presents an explanation about disasters related to natural phenomena, highlighting the studies of new approaches to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) by drought and flood, developed at the Federal University of Paraíba, Technology Center, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Laboratory of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. Some researches carried out in the Postgraduate Program in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the Postgraduate Program in Development and Environment, and also in undergraduate thesis were highlighted.

Some researches carried out in the Postgraduate Program in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the Postgraduate Program in Development and Environment, and also in undergraduate thesis were highlighted.Este trabajo presenta una explicación sobre los desastres relacionados con los fenómenos naturales, destacando los estudios de nuevos enfoques para la Reducción del Riesgo de Desastres por sequía e inundación, desarrollados en la Universidad Federal de Paraíba, Centro de Tecnología, Departamento de Ingeniería Civil y Ambiental, Laboratorio de Recursos Hídricos e Ingeniería Ambiental. Se destacaron algunos trabajos de investigación realizados en el Programa de Posgrado en Ingeniería Civil y Ambiental, y el Programa de Postgrado en Desarrollo y Medio Ambiente, y también en Tesis de Graduación.Este trabalho apresenta uma explanação acerca dos desastres relacionados com fenomenos naturais, destacando os estudos de novas abodagens para a Redução de Risco de Desastres por seca e por inundação, desenvolvidos na Universidade Federal da Paraíba, Centro de Tecnologia, Departamento de Engenharia Civil e Ambiental, Laboratório de Recursos Hídricos e Engenharia Ambiental.
