This study aims to analyze some of the main convergent demands of public policies presented by women heads of family. It is a part of a survey conducted with ten rural women heads of family, living in rural communities in the Sertão of Pernambuco, where there were used interviews and participant observation. Despite territorial differences, women presented demands that converged in relation to: need for security in access to land; absence or little operationality of the State and institutions in their communities; harmful subordination to institutional time, especially in the matters of access to health, and the costs involved in reaching services; and the lack of education, leisure and sociability equipment locally. Recognizing the specificities of these women’s conditions paves the way for a Psychology that is more inclusive and sensitive to rural populations.
