Teaching competences and learning in controllership in master's programs: an investigation of student perception

Resumo: | Purpose: Understand the perception of students about the relationship between teaching skills and controllership learning in accounting master's programs in southern and southeastern Brazil. Methodology: Qualitative study with a descriptive-exploratory character carried out through in-depth interviews. Nineteen students who completed the controllership discipline in 9 accounting master's programs in the south and southeast of Brazil were interviewed. Content analysis was used. Results: The students indicated that the perception of knowledge (content domain, practical experience about organizations and academic experience), skills (pedagogical practice, including communication, teaching strategies and assessment method) and attitudes (preparation of classes; choice of course materials; and interpersonal relationships) of teachers are related to their learning process. This differentiation is only didactic, since both the theory of competencies and the results obtained from the interviews demonstrate that these aspects are interrelated in the learning process. Contributions of the Study: This research can bring relevant contributions for teachers and institutions in order to evaluate and promote changes in the teaching process in controllership in master's programs. |

Metodología: Estudio cualitativo con carácter descriptivo-exploratorio realizado a través de entrevistas en profundidad. Se entrevistó a 19 estudiantes que completaron la disciplina de control en 9 programas de maestría en contabilidad en el sur y sureste de Brasil. Se utilizó el análisis de contenido. Resultados: Los estudiantes indicaron que la percepción del conocimiento (dominio del contenido, experiencia práctica sobre organizaciones y experiencia académica), habilidades (práctica pedagógica, incluyendo comunicación, estrategias de enseñanza y método de evaluación) y actitudes (preparación de clases, elección de materiales del curso y relaciones interpersonales) de los docentes están relacionados con su proceso de aprendizaje. Esta diferenciación es solo didáctica, ya que tanto la teoría de las competencias como los resultados obtenidos de las entrevistas demuestran que estos aspectos están interrelacionados en el proceso de aprendizaje. Contribuciones del Estudio: Esta investigación puede aportar contribuciones relevantes para maestros e instituciones para evaluar y promover cambios en el proceso de enseñanza de la contraloría en los programas de maestría.Objetivo: Compreender a percepção dos discentes sobre a relação entre competências docentes e aprendizado de controladoria em programas de mestrado em contabilidade no sul e sudeste do Brasil. Metodologia: Estudo qualitativo com caráter descritivo-exploratório realizado por meio de entrevistas em profundidade. Foram entrevistados 19 alunos que concluíram a disciplina de controladoria em 9 programas de mestrado em contabilidade no sul e sudeste do Brasil. Empregou-se análise de conteúdo. Resultados: Os alunos indicaram que a percepção sobre conhecimentos (domínio de conteúdo, experiência prática sobre organizações e experiência acadêmica), habilidades (prática pedagógica, incluindo comunicação, estratégias de ensino e método de avaliação) e atitudes (preparação das aulas; escolha dos materiais da disciplina; e relacionamento interpessoal) dos professores se relacionam com seu processo de aprendizagem. Esta diferenciação é apenas didática, pois tanto a teoria sobre competências quanto os resultados obtidos a partir das entrevistas demonstram que esses aspectos se inter-relacionam no processo de aprendizagem.
