Anorexia nervosa and the effect on the clinical framework with the use of antipsychotics

Resumo: Introduction: Anorexia nervosa is characterized by an eating disorder with a typical clinical of food restriction and malnutrition. Objective: to verify the effectiveness of the use of the antipsychotic drugs olanzapine, quetiapine, risperidone in the weight gain of patients with this pathology. Methodology: 9 Randomized Clinical Trials (RCT) were used attached to the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online/PubMed (MEDLINE) platform, all of which were analyzed based on inclusion and exclusion criteria made in pairs to carry out a Systematic Literature Review. Results: articles were evaluated through the Grading of Recommendatons Assessment Development and Evaluaton (GRADE) system. Discussion: Thus, among the main findings, the antipsychotic olanzapine appears as the most promising among risperidone and quetiapine. It has a positive effect on increasing the Body Mass Index (BMI) for a shorter period of time according to the Randomized Clinical Trials (RCT). Conclusions:  further studies it is still needed to expand the field of treatment of eating disorders. Keywords: Eating disorder. Anorexia nervosa. Antipsychotics.

Objetivo: verificar la efectividad del uso de los medicamentos antipsicóticos olanzapina, quetiapina, risperidona em el aumento de peso de pacientes con esta patología. Metodología: Se utilizaron 9 Ensayos Clínicos Aleatorizados (RCT) adjuntos a la plataforma Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online / PubMed (MEDLINE), todos fueron analizados en base a criterios de inclusión y exclusión realizados en pares para realizar una Revisión Sistemática de la Literatura. Resultados: Los artículos fueron evaluados mediante el sistema Grading of Recommendatons Assessment Development and Evaluaton (GRADE). Discusión: Así, entre los principales hallazgos, el antipsicótico olanzapina aparece como el más prometedor entre la risperidona y la quetiapina. Tiene un efecto positivo en el aumento del índice de masa corporal (IMC) durante un período de tiempo más corto de acuerdo con los ensayos clínicos aleatorizados (RCT). Conclusiones: aun es necesario más estudios para ampliar el campo del tratamiento de los trastornos alimentarios. Palabras clave: Desorden alimenticio. Anorexia nerviosa. Antipsicóticos.Introdução: a anorexia nervosa caracteriza-se por um transtorno alimentar com quadro clínico típico de restrição dietética e desnutrição. Objetivo: verificar a eficácia do uso dos fármacos antipsicóticos olanzapina, quetiapina, risperidona no aumento ponderal de pacientes com tal patologia. Metodologia: utilizou-se de 9 Ensaios Clínicos Randomizados (ECR) anexados na plataforma Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online/PubMed (MEDLINE), sendo todos analisados a partir de critérios de inclusão e exclusão feitos aos pares para a realização de uma Revisão Sistemática de Literatura. Resultados: os artigos foram avaliados através do sistema Grading of Recommendatons Assessment Development and Evaluaton (GRADE). Discussão: desse modo, dentre os principais achados, o antipsicótico olanzapina aparece como o mais promissor entre a risperidona e a quetiapina. O mesmo apresenta efeito positivo no aumento do Índice de Massa Corpórea (IMC) durante um menor intervalo de tempo de acordo com os Ensaios Clínicos Randomizados (ECR). Conclusões: ainda se faz necessários novos estudos para ampliar o campo de tratamento dos transtornos alimentares. Palavras-Chave: Transtorno alimentar. Anorexia nervosa.
