Resumo: This review presents de sixth edition of the book How to elaborate research projects (2017), by Antonio Carlos Gil. The author is a reference on the area of scientific methodology and this book, published by Atlas, shows the structure of research projects, guiding the reader among the various types of methodologies, such as case of study, document analysis, experimental research, and others. The author also deals with quality and quantity approaches, the planning and the budget of the projects, helping the readers to define their research paths. This book is recommended to graduation and post graduation students because at the end of each chapter there are reading recommendation and some exercises about the subject. Key words:  scientific  methodology, structure of research projects, research approaches.

O autor é referência na área de metodologia científica e esta sua obra, publicada pela editora Atlas, discorre sobre a estrutura dos projetos de pesquisa, orientando o leitor acerca das metodologias mais recorrentes para o desenvolvimento de variados tipos de pesquisa, como estudos de caso, pesquisa documental, experimental, entre outros. O autor também trata das abordagens qualitativas e quantitativas, do planejamento e do orçamento, orientando o leitor na definição de seus caminhos de pesquisa. O livro é recomendado para estudantes de graduação e pós-graduação, pois ao final de cada capítulo há leituras recomendadas e exercícios sobre o conteúdo tratado.
