Resumo: In recent years the consumption of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) has been boosted by the technological advance and the consumer tendency of society to always acquire more modern equipment. As a consequence, there is an increase in the generation of electrical and electronic waste (WEEE), especially when it is considered that the useful life of such equipment is quite limited. However, the main problem is related not only to the amount of waste generated, but especially to the damage they can cause to the environment and to human health if they are disposed of and / or processed improperly. Thus, knowledge of the WEEE flow, where they come from and where they go, is of great importance for the management of this waste. Therefore, this research aims to diagnose the processing chain of WEEE in the city of Natal, identifying the flow, quantity generated, collected and processed in the capital of the state. To this end, four types of questionnaires were designed, each destined for a specific actor in the processing chain, namely, large generators, collectors, processors and final recipients. These questionnaires consist of open and closed questions and are being applied through online forms, with the help of the Google Forms tool, or in person, through interviews. With the results obtained so far, it was possible to observe that the amount of electro-electronic waste collected and processed in the city of Natal is still incipient and represents around 4 to 8% of the total amount of electro-electronic waste generated. In addition, it was noticed that there is great difficulty in obtaining quantitative data, since there is no concern on the part of the institutions to register this information, however from the qualitative information it was possible to construct flowcharts indicative of the most frequent routes for some of the generated electronic waste.

Como consequência, tem-se o aumento da geração de resíduos eletroeletrônicos (REEE), principalmente quando se considera que a vida útil desses equipamentos é bastante limitada. No entanto, a principal problemática não está relacionada apenas com a quantidade de resíduo gerado, mas especialmente com os danos que estes podem causar ao meio ambiente e à saúde humana, caso sejam dispostos e/ou processados inadequadamente. Sendo assim, o conhecimento do fluxo dos REEE, de onde vêm e para onde vão, é de grande importância para o gerenciamento destes resíduos. Logo, esta pesquisa tem por objetivo mapear a cadeia de processamento dos REEE na cidade de Natal, identificando os estabelecimentos potencialmente geradores de REEE, os pontos coletores, bem como os processadores e destinatários finais. Para levantar informações acerca da quantidade de resíduos eletroeletrônicos gerados, coletados, processados e enviados para tratamento final, , foram elaborados quatro tipos de questionários, cada um destinado a um ator específico da cadeia de processamento, a saber, grandes geradores, coletores, processadores e destinatários finais. Esses questionários são constituídos de perguntas abertas e fechadas e foram aplicados através de formulários online, com o auxílio da ferramenta Google Forms, ou presencialmente, por meio de entrevistas. Foram identificados 59 grandes geradores, 47 pontos coletores, 4 empresas processadoras que recebem os REEE da cidade de Natal e 2 destinatários finais. Além disso, percebeu-se que existe uma grande dificuldade em conseguir dados quantitativos, visto que não há uma preocupação por parte das instituições em registrar tais informações, no entanto a partir das informações qualitativas foi possível construir fluxogramas indicativos das rotas mais frequentes para alguns dos resíduos eletroeletrônicos gerados.
