O papel do pedagogo no atendimento educacional hospitalar: fundamentos e percepções de professoras

Resumo: The main objective of this article is to present an analysis regarding the pedagogical activity in the hospital environment in order to emphasize relevant aspects of the schooling method aimed at assisting the right to education of children and teenagers under circumstances of illness in health institutions. In this sense, we intend to contribute towards the promotion of the debate and actions that surround this important educational activity by emphasizing legal aspects and public policies, the formalization and fulfillment of the activity, as well as the perception of the professionals that work in this field. As for the methodology, the bibliographical research was conducted through the consultation of technical studies pertaining to the field, and the reading of theoretical references regarding the fundamentals and concepts of the subject in question. We also developed an analysis based on interviews with pedagogues that work in hospitals and charity homes in the city of Natal, RN, so as to comprehend the role of the pedagogue in the hospital class, the importance of their work, their daily action process and its meaning for the professionals and the understanding in regards to the need for improvement of the activity. It became evident that there is the need for adequate space and materials to work, and also for an engaged attitude and a team spirit that includes all the professionals involved, whether in the hospital or in the school of origin. We also perceived that the relevance of the hospital class goes beyond school development concerns and speaks with regards to family and community relationship issues, on the search for the reintegration of the student into the social group and the rescue of their motivation and self-esteem. In general, we comprehend the complexity of the work that requires a multidisciplinary workforce and needs to be reflected on a daily basis by those who take an active role in it in order to achieve the necessary improvements to the performance of the activity.

Pretendemos, nesse sentido, contribuir para a ampliação das discussões e ações em torno dessa importante atividade educacional, destacando aspectos legais e de políticas públicas, a formalização e execução da atividade, bem como a percepção de profissionais que atuam na área. Como metodologia, foi realizada a pesquisa bibliográfica, através da consulta de estudos técnicos do campo e leitura de referenciais teóricos importantes para os fundamentos e conceitos sobre o tema em questão. Desenvolvemos também, uma análise a partir de entrevistas realizadas com pedagogas que atuam em hospitais e casas de apoio na cidade do Natal/RN, no intuito de compreender a função do pedagogo na classe hospitalar, a importância desse trabalho, o processo de atuação cotidiano, o significado da atividade para os profissionais e seu entendimento quanto às necessidades de melhorias para a atividade. Foi evidenciada a necessidade de espaço e materiais adequados ao trabalho e também uma postura engajada e espírito de equipe que inclua todos os profissionais envolvidos, seja no hospital ou na escola de origem. Percebemos ainda que a relevância da classe hospitalar ultrapassa o desenvolvimento escolar e adentra nas questões de relacionamento familiar e comunitário, na busca da reinserção do educando na vida social e resgate da sua motivação e autoestima.
