The constant search for longevity is inherent in the modern world. Due to the advancement of medicine and the consequent cure of diseases, we have as a reflex an increasing sampling of the elderly. Architecture must follow this trend, providing through the spaces, the necessary contribution for the quality of life to this public. In terms of housing, some elderly people will live in long-term care settings, such as nursing homes or private institutions for the elderly while, others will remain in their homes or live with some of their relatives. The concept of asylum has become pejorative, due in part to the deficiency in the administration and management of the services that this model offers. In addition, their spaces lack attractiveness and quality, aggravating this scenario. As for private institutions, they are often too costly to have a complete care program for the elderly, which limits the number of people who can afford this kind of space and service. With the objective of promoting the quality of life through healthy aging, the present work proposes to develop the preliminary design of a vertical multifamily residential building, targeting the elderly. In order to make this project more flexible, we will study the specificities of thinking about a dwelling that works mainly with the relevance of universal design and which adds, besides the accessible spaces, a program of needs that contemplate the living of the elderly. The building also highlights the importance of adopting bioclimatic strategies that respect available natural resources such as ventilation, as well as adding, on time, renewable technologies that will minimize the environmental impacts and the energy consumption of the building.
