Resumo: Introduction: Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) is an atherosclerotic disease that mainly affects the elderly population, causing endothelial and hemodynamic dysfunction in the peripheral vessels. Such dysfunction causes physical changes that lead to a decrease in functionality. Objective: The present study aims to evaluate the presence of sensory disturbance, muscular strength and functionality in elderly with PAD in the city of Santa Cruz-RN. Method: This work is an exploratory, descriptive cross-sectional study. The evaluation of the functionality, Functional Fitness electromyography of anterior tibial and medial gastrocnemius were performed. For the evaluation of peripheral sensitivity, the monofilament test was used. Results: Through the monofilament test, patients with PAD presented greater sensitivity in 1st metatarsal region and in hallux of both lower limbs and decreased sensitivity in the heel region. There was no significant difference for the maximal voluntary contraction and tonus of the gastrocnemius and tibialis anterior between the PAD and control group. Spearman test showed a strong positive correlation (p = 0.024; r = 0.83) between the 2.5-meter walk-up test and the gastrocnemius muscle of the DAP group. Conclusion: Through preliminary data, it was observed the presence of sensory deficit, muscular strength, agility and dynamic balance in patients with PAD. It is suggested that with the increase in the sample number, differences in electromyographic activity appear between the PAD group and control group.

Peripheral arterial disease; elderly; physical fitness.Análise funcional em pacientes com doença arterial obstrutiva periféricaFunctional analysis in patients with Peripheral Obstructive Artery Diseaseinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/embargoedAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFRNinstname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN)instacron:UFRNTEXTAnaliseFuncionalPacientes_Silva_2016.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain34935https://repositorio.ufrn.br/bitstream/123456789/34154/1/AnaliseFuncionalPacientes_Silva_2016.pdf.txt52a4474a50acbccc595452723c079c17MD51LICENSElicense.txttext/plain756https://repositorio.ufrn.br/bitstream/123456789/34154/2/license.txta80a9cda2756d355b388cc443c3d8a43MD52ORIGINALAnaliseFuncionalPacientes_Silva_2016.pdfapplication/pdf434415https://repositorio.ufrn.br/bitstream/123456789/34154/3/AnaliseFuncionalPacientes_Silva_2016.pdf6988b5c130ccb1ab2880ddfea70889e7MD53123456789/341542024-03-19 01:02:20.145oai:https://repositorio.ufrn.br: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ório de PublicaçõesPUBhttp://repositorio.ufrn.br/oai/opendoar:2024-03-19T04:02:20Repositório Institucional da UFRN - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN)false
