Resumo: Objectives: Evaluate the profile of oral health care by examining the behavior of Indicators of Oral Health at Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Methods: A study was conducted through a descriptive analysis of the temporal evolution of the indicators, built through secondary data issued by the Ambulatory Information System (SIA-SUS), between the years 2002 through 2013. Results: There was a decline in the indicator for first dental appointment coverage (24.48% to 4.17%), the proportion of extraction (6.62% to 1.23%) but also the individual average basic dental procedures (1.07 to 0.09), however, there was an evolution of the Oral Health Team coverage indicator (ESB). It was possible to observe a strong negative correlation between initial consultation and ESB coverage rate; proportion of extraction and, individual average basic dental procedures. Conclusion: It was evident that all dental clinical procedures indicators analyzed showed a decline during the studied period of time, despite having an increase of Oral Health Teams coverage. These results can be attributed to pent-up supply of dental procedures rendered to population , the misreporting of procedures or even policy -related issues / management / management of health services in the municipality

Métodos: estudo realizado através de uma análise descritiva temporal da evolução dos indicadores, construídos através de dados secundários emitidos pelo Sistema de Informação Ambulatorial (SIA-SUS), entre os anos de 2002 e 2013. Resultados: houve um declínio do indicador de cobertura de primeira consulta odontológica (de 24,48% para 4,17%), da proporção de exodontia (de 6,62% para 1,23%), como também da média de procedimentos odontológicos básicos individuais (de 1,07 para 0,09), entretanto, ocorreu uma evolução do indicador de cobertura de Equipe de Saúde Bucal (ESB). Foi possível observar uma forte correlação negativa entre a taxa de cobertura de ESB e à primeira consulta, à proporção de exodontia e à média de procedimentos odontológicos básicos individuais. Conclusão: Evidenciou-se que todos os indicadores de procedimentos clínicos odontológicos analisados apresentaram um declínio durante a série histórica estudada, mesmo tendo ocorrido um aumento da cobertura de Equipes de Saúde Bucal.
