Homeschooling: estudo de caso de duas famílias adeptas

Resumo: The present work addresses a theme still little known in our society: Homeschooling, or Home Education. It is a teaching method that works in different countries giving parents the opportunity to take up their children's school education at home without the obligation to formalize their enrollment in a school. Education for the school-age population, assumed by the family and not in the formal education system, is not new for 63 countries that already have regulatory frameworks. Given the systematization of schooling and the strengthening of the State, home education has given way to school, but has now been taken up by some families in Brazil. In the present study we intend to understand the historical process of this practice in Brazil, exposing how the Judiciary and Legislative Powers has dealt with the subject, besides characterizing two Homeschooling families in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in order to understand their motivations for adherence to the modality of education alien to the school environment. It is, therefore, an exploratory research with a qualitative approach, which will use as a source the information obtained in the application of a questionnaire. In the literary analysis, it was possible to observe that the thought of homeschooling families is that the school does not offer the necessary quality education for its children. The present research observed, however, that there are other motivations, such as the willingness to participate actively in the education of the child. The study is based on the theoretical references brought by Vasconcelos (2005), Barbosa (2013), Vieira (2012), among others.

Trata-se de um método de ensino que funciona em diferentes países dando a oportunidade dos pais assumirem a educação escolar de seus filhos, na própria casa, sem a obrigação de formalizar matrícula em uma escola. A educação para a população em idade escolar, assumida pela família e não no sistema formal de educação, a escola, não é novidade para 63 países que já possuem marcos regulatórios. Dada a sistematização da escolarização e o fortalecimento do Estado, a educação feita no lar deu lugar à escola, mas atualmente tem sido retomada por algumas famílias no Brasil. No presente estudo pretende-se compreender o processo histórico dessa prática no Brasil, expondo como os Poderes judiciário e legislativo tem lidado com o assunto, além de caracterizar duas famílias adeptas do Homeschooling no estado do Rio Grande do Norte, com o objetivo de compreender suas motivações para a adesão à modalidade de ensino alheio ao ambiente escolar. Trata-se, portanto, de uma pesquisa de natureza exploratória de abordagem qualitativa, que utilizará como fonte as informações obtidas na aplicação de um questionário. Na análise literária, foi possível observar que o pensamento das famílias homeschoolers é de que a escola não oferece o educação de qualidade necessária para seus filhos. A presente pesquisa observou, no entanto, que existe outras motivações, como a vontade de participar ativamente da educação da criança.
