This paper analyzes the Rural Development and Public Politics at Barra da Espingarda Community, rural area of Caicó/RN city. In this context, we seek to identify the population's characteristics, as well as some items related to the quality of life for residents in the study area; to identify agricultural and non-agricultural activities; discoursing about droughts and analysis public politics implemented in the study area. For this were performed theoretical reflections that encompassed the themes: rural, development and rural development, farming activities and non-agricultural, drought and public politics. Moreover, visits were made in loco, for observation, application of semi-structured interviews with community residents who were part of the sample considered and photographic record. After these steps have been made the analysis and tabulation of data, qualitatively, by building a textual profile and quantitative, through SPHINX 5 software and of the construction of tables and graphs in the Excel 2010 software. In this context, we find that the community provides most of the generating conditions of rural development. However, still has some problems to be corrected.
