Resumo: HIV causes mild to severe impairment of the central nervous system, causing changes in cognitive and motor skills, leading to deficits in postural control. Thus aimed to evaluate the static postural control in people living with HIV / AIDS. Sample: 11 people (6 men and 5 women) who regularly exercise and do follow-up in specialized care services, Natal / RN. We assessed the instruments used for height and body mass were digital scale and stadiometer to postural control was used the force platform and handgrip dynamometer was used manual. For data analysis we used descriptive values (mean and standard deviation) for both sample characterization as to the clinical parameters and grip strength. For records of static postural balance during the three test conditions used the MatLab R2013b (frequency acquisition: 100Hz), which were observed: pressure center; range of anterior-posterior displacement; range of medial-lateral displacement; area and total displacement in bipedal and one-leg positions (with and without sale). The group had abnormal postural control. In women there was oscillation amplitude in the variables of the COP anteroposterior, mediolateral, area and DOT, less on condition eyes open and eyes closed condition. The men had lower amplitude shift in COPml with open eyes. Suggesting a lower magnitude of postural sway for females of this study. These results can be arising from differences in lipodystrophy characteristics between the sexes and also the presence of different viral load. It was concluded that people living with HIV / AIDS have changes in postural control and participation in physical exercise program should be encouraged, so that the benefits thereof can minimize changes in postural control.

These results can be arising from differences in lipodystrophy characteristics between the sexes and also the presence of different viral load. It was concluded that people living with HIV / AIDS have changes in postural control and participation in physical exercise program should be encouraged, so that the benefits thereof can minimize changes in postural control.O HIV causa de leve a grave comprometimento do sistema nervoso central, causando alterações nas capacidades cognitivas e motoras, podendo levar a déficits no controle postural. O grupo apresentou alteração no controle postural.
