Resumo: | Knowledge about Dental caries is very important to know the correct way to prevent it and the risks that it can bring to the health not only of children but of all individuals in general and also the benefits which can be obtained by performing a proper oral hygiene. The role of parents is of utmost importance when it comes to oral health of their children , it is through these that the children are mirrored in relation to habits and customs. The study aimed to precisely analyze the knowledge of parents with regard to aspects of dental caries , for this it conducted a questionnaire containing 12 questions with aspects related to dental caries and oral health. The type of analytical quantitative study was cross-sectional sample size was 40 parents of both genders surveyed in CMEI - Proª Frances Célia Martins in the neighborhood of Our Lady of the Presentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics . The results showed that the majority of parents (72.5 %) responded be caries disease and 77.5 % believes that plaque is a group of bacteria on the tooth surface . 82.5 % believe that the card can be removed only by scraping with instruments made by the dentist. Another major part of parents (82.5 %) responded that a good brush would be one that has soft bristles and a small head . Regarding the right amount of toothpaste for brushing, only 40% of respondents to be the size of a grain of beans while 47% believe that the ideal amount is one that covers the entire brush. With respect to the function of the fluorine, the majority (62.5%) believes that the same serves to prevent decay. With regard to milk tooth, 52.5% of respondents believe it should be restored, since 87.5% of respondents answered that to be born a permanent tooth it takes to fall a milk tooth. Regarding the brushing of their children, the vast majority (90%) answered that it is made jointly by parents and children. Regarding the diet, 65% of parents responded that their children do not use a diet high in sweets. With regard to knowledge initiatives at school, 60% of respondents said that there are such initiatives at school and 40% answered that does not exist. The question in which respondents were asked about their opinions about what can be done to promote oral health in school, 23 of 40 respondents or 57.5% of parents said they would like the presence of a health professional (Dentist) in school, 13 people or 32.5% of respondents said they would like lectures and meetings with parents at school. The rest had only opinions. One ( 01) interviewed said they would like to see a partnership between government and health institutions so that there was compliance with offices in school , another respondent would like to see social activities at school , another said he would like scavenger hunts and theaters were held to the promotion of oral health in school, and, finally , another replied that want it implemented a health discipline in childhood. And that was always supervised brushing at school. The study he concluded that even with some uncertainty and doubts while answering the questionnaire, parents demonstrated a good knowledge regarding dental caries and oral health. |

O papel dos pais é de extrema importância no que diz respeito à saúde bucal de seus filhos, pois é através destes que os filhos se espelham com relação aos hábitos e costumes. O estudo visou analisar justamente o conhecimento dos pais com relação aos aspectos da Cárie dentária, para isto foi realizado um questionário contendo 12 questões com aspectos relacionados à cárie dentária bem como saúde oral. O tipo de estudo foi quantitativo analítico de corte transversal, o tamanho da amostra foi de 40 pais ou responsáveis de ambos os gêneros entrevistados no CMEI – Profª Francisca Célia Martins no Bairro de Nossa Senhora da Apresentação. Os dados foram analisados através da estatística descritiva. Os resultados mostraram que a maioria dos pais (72,5%) respondeu ser a cárie dentária uma doença e 77,5,% acredita que a placa bacteriana é um grupo de bactérias na superfície do dente. 82,5% acredita que a placa só pode ser retirada apenas através da raspagem com instrumentos feita pelo dentista. Outra grande parte dos pais (82,5%) respondeu que uma boa escova seria aquela que possui cerdas macias e cabeça pequena. Com relação à quantidade de creme dental adequada para a escovação, apenas 40% dos entrevistados responderam ser do tamanho de um grão de feijão enquanto que 47% acredita que a quantidade ideal seja aquela que cubra toda a escova. Com relação à função do flúor, a maioria (62,5%) acredita que o mesmo serve para evitar a cárie. No que diz respeito ao dente de leite, 52,5% dos entrevistados acredita que este deve ser restaurado, já 87,5% dos entrevistados responderam que para nascer um dente permanente é preciso que caia um dente de leite. Com relação à escovação de seus filhos, a grande maioria (90%), respondeu que é feita em conjunto por pais e crianças. A respeito da dieta, 65% dos pais responderam que os filhos não fazem uso de uma dieta rica em doces. Com relação ao conhecimento de iniciativas na escola, 60% dos entrevistados afirmaram que existem essas iniciativas na escola e 40% responderam que não existe. Na questão em que os entrevistados foram questionados sobre suas opiniões a respeito do que poderia ser feito para promover a saúde bucal na escola, 23 dos 40 entrevistados ou 57,5% dos pais responderam que gostariam da presença do profissional da saúde (Dentista) na escola, 13 pessoas ou 32,5% dos entrevistados responderam que gostariam que houvesse palestras e reuniões com os pais na escola. O restante teve opiniões únicas. Um (01) entrevistado respondeu que gostaria de ver uma parceria entre governo e instituições de saúde para que houvesse atendimento com consultórios na escola, outro entrevistado respondeu que gostaria de ver ações sociais na escola, outro respondeu que gostaria que fossem realizadas gincanas e teatros para a promoção da saúde oral na escola, e, por fim, outro respondeu que gostaria que fosse implantada uma disciplina de saúde na infância. E que a escovação fosse sempre supervisionada na escola.
