In this work we will focus on the theme: reading and writing in Early Childhood Education. Our objective is to theoretically discuss the role of written language in the context of Early Childhood Education, reflecting on its limits and possibilities. We will see a little of the history of Early Childhood Education and conceptions of children and childhood, and some important parameters for early childhood education according to NCP, RCNEI, and some authors who talk about reading and writing in Early Childhood Education. We will look at the conceptions of children and childhood, what is the role of early childhood education with reading and writing, and some different possibilities of how reading and writing with children should be worked and what the contributions of written language work to the socio-interactive child in society.
