This memorial describes the creative process of eleven artworks that make up the series of paintings Beyond faces. The research unfolds from investigations of the anti-portraiture, a contemporary concept that’s consists in partially or totally hiding the face of the represented individual. To do so, it’s shown a summary of my productions in the last ten years as well as a retrospective of portrait painting throughout the history of art. Then there’s an analysis of artists who exploit the anti-portraiture in their works, such as René Magritte, Hélène Delmaire and Henrietta Harris, that follows the artistic experimentation here presented. In the end, conclusions are given about role of the face in painting as a key element in establishing identity links between the observer and the work of art.
